In the January transfer window, Gabriel Martinelli will not be leaving Arsenal.
In the absence of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, the Brazilian started Arsenal’s opening two games of the season, but has only played 11 minutes since then.
Following that, the 20-year-old has been linked with a January transfer away from the Emirates, with a number of clubs around Europe reportedly interested in his talents.
His former club Corinthians is also reportedly interested in bringing him back to Brazil.
His father, Joao Martinelli, thinks, however, that Arsenal will not allow him to depart in the middle of the season.
‘He’s been playing a lot less than he would have liked since he came back from an injury,’ Martinelli Snr told Yahoo.
‘There has been discussion of European offers, but Arsenal has already stated that he will not be released.’
‘He has a lot of fans. Not only because of what he does when he plays, but also because of his commitment.
‘Martinelli is practically always the first to arrive and the last to leave for training.’
Martinelli had a fantastic first season in England, scoring 10 goals, but it came to an end in June 2020 due to a serious knee injury.
Despite a few minor ailments after his return, he has been available for selection for the whole 2021-22 season.
