In the forthcoming Premier League match, Arsenal new signing Aaron Ramsdale looks set to start ahead of Bernd Leno, according to reports.

When newly-promoted Norwich City visits the Emirates on September 11, the Gunners will be desperate to secure their first win of the season.

Arsenal has had one of their worst-ever starts to a season in the Premier League. The Gunners lost 2-0 at Brentford on an opening day, lost 2-0 at home to London rivals Chelsea, and lost 5-0 away to Manchester City in the last round.

At the Etihad Stadium last weekend, Germany international Leno conceded five goals, and Arteta may change goalkeepers for next weekend’s crucial match against Norwich, despite his lack of fault for the defeat.

Ramsdale was originally signed by Arsenal from Sheffield United for £24m this summer. The 23-year-old wants to succeed Leno as the Gunners’ number one shot-stopper.

Ramsdale may even start against Norwich, having made his Arsenal debut against West Brom in the 6-0 Carabao Cup victory.

Ramsdale, who suffered Premier League relegations with both his former clubs, Sheffield United and Bournemouth, raised eyebrows with his move to Arsenal.

He told Leno recently that he would not act as an understudy this time around, however, he is confident he will be successful in north London.

He also said that it was a great place to be because of the competition. It has been great having Bernd on my team, and I intend to push him all the way and take over from him.

This is what I must do, and it’s up to him to keep it in sight. The goalkeeping department needs healthy competition, and hopefully, I can do the same for the entire team.

Our differences will hopefully lead to us combining our strengths and making a great team.

Having spent three years at Arsenal, Leno appears to be leaving the club next summer. The club has no plans to extend its contract. The goalkeeper is wanted by Inter Milan.
