Fresh from a fine Super Cup win at Dortmund, champions Bayern will be looking to secure a first Bundesliga win of the season when they take on FC Cologne at the Allianz Arena.

Having struggled to get going in pre-season with 3 wins and a draw from 4, Bayern looked to be back to their old self this past weekend, having claimed a fine 3:1 win over Dortmund in what proved to be an enthralling battle between two great rivals.

Now under the guidance of new boss Julian Nagelsmann, Bayern has added the talented Upamecano to their defensive rearguard; however, despite being linked with the likes of Erling Haaland, no further additions have been made to Bayern´s attacking options.

Still, with Robert Lewandowski back amongst the goals, Bayern should be expected to claim all 3 points as they have done in each of the last 7 competitive meetings between these sides.

Goals are usually to be expected when Bayern play, and this fixture has also lived up to expectation in recent years, with 6 of the last 7 going over 2.5 goals. In contrast, Koln has scored in 4 of their last 5 league defeats against the Bavarians.

As such, we´re taking the champions to claim another 3 points with over 2.5 match goals expected as a short-priced double, but given recent history, this “banker” pick looks solid enough with Bayern seeing both outcomes in 9 of their last 12 home league outings.

Ultimately, Bayern should win with plenty to spare, but Koln will be confident following a fine 3:1 last weekend against Hertha, and they could hit the net having done so in each of their last 4 matches against Bayern, including their pre-season friendly win earlier this summer.

FC Bayern Team News

Bayern is likely to field the same team that beat Dortmund last weekend, with Alphonso Davies continuing at left-back following his injury lay-off.

Having scored twice against old foes Dortmund, Lewandoski will lead Bayern´s attack with support from Muller, Coman and Gnabry.

FC Koln Team News

Having scored one goal last season, Austrian midfielder Florian Kainz bagged twice in Koln´s fine 3:1 win over Hertha. He will start on the left-side of Koln´s midfield.

Jannes-Kilian Horn is an injury doubt for Koln, having missed their opener last weekend, while Anthony Modeste will lead the away side´s counter-attacking threat.
